Meaning
They stand at the door of a girl whose brother's buffaloes ache for their calves and stream milk on their own until the whole yard turns to mud, while the dew falls on the waiting friends' heads. They are singing of the one dear to every heart, who in his anger struck down the king of southern Lanka, yet she will not even open her mouth. What a sleep this is, they cry; the whole neighborhood already knows, so let her rise at last.
