Meaning
They ask him to hear why they have come in the small hours of the morning to bow before him and praise his golden lotus feet: born into the clan that grazes cattle for its living, he cannot refuse the humble service of his own people. This is the heart of the whole vow: it was never really about today's drum, Govinda. For all time, through seven births and seven more, they wish to remain his kin and serve him alone, and they ask him to remove every other desire from them.
