Meaning

He remembers how the Lord, glad at heart, once strode out to measure the worlds, His tall crown reaching the top of the universe, and how as Rama of the Kakutstha line He loosed fierce arrows on the night-roaming demons who opposed Him. Now, before the Lord of Srirangam amid fragrant groves, the poet's thought rises and settles on the red garment about His waist.
