Meaning

Now at Nandagopa's mansion, the girls address the guard of the house and the keeper of the flag-hung festival gateway, asking him to lift the latch of the jeweled door. Just yesterday, they say, the enchanting gem-hued lord himself gave the young cowherd girls his word about the sounding drum. They have come pure, only to sing him awake, so let the guard not refuse them at the outset but open the well-fitted beloved doors.
