Meaning
This is a litany of homage: praise to the feet that once measured this world, praise to the strength that went and destroyed southern Lanka, praise to the fame that kicked the demon-cart to pieces, praise to the anklet-clad feet that hurled the calf as a throwing stick, praise to the goodness that lifted the hill as an umbrella, praise to the spear in his hand that conquers every foe. Singing his heroic deeds over and over, the girls have come this day for the drum, and they beg him for his compassion.
